The Middle Fork Crow River Watershed District relies on volunteers from the community to assist with water quality monitoring. Twice a month during the summer, volunteers measure water clarity using a Secchi disk or tube at designated lake or river sites. During each visit, they record their readings and observations on the physical and recreational conditions of their lake or river site. No prior experience is required! The MFCRWD provides each volunteer with equipment and training needed to make accurate measurements in the field. This data is used to make decisions on watershed protection and restoration.
